The salesman at the showroom kept pushing an extended warranty on me last week, and I walked out without signing anything because I honestly could not decide. I have a Range Rover Sport that is five years old, and the factory cover is about to end in two months. The plan he showed me costs quite a lot for each year, and he kept saying that one big repair would cost more than the whole plan. That sounded fair at first, but then I started to feel like he was just saying what salesmen always say. My brother in law says never buy extra cover, because you pay a lot and most people never use it. My friend, who owns the same car, says he bought one and it saved him when his air suspension failed. So now I have two opposite stories and no idea what to do. I spent a few evenings reading about it, and one person wrote that a good Range Rover Repair garage can tell you which parts usually fail at this age, so you can decide if the plan is worth the money. That seemed like a clever way to think about it, but I do not know if workshops like to talk about such things with someone who is not a customer yet. What should I ask before I sign? Do these plans really cover everything, or are there small rules that let them say no when you need them most? I heard some plans only pay if you service the car at their own place, and that worries me because I like my independent garage. Also, is it better to buy the plan from the dealer or from another company? And can I cancel it later if I change my mind, or do I lose the money? My car has around sixty thousand kilometers and I drive about fifteen thousand a year, so I do not know if that changes the price. If you bought one, please tell me if you used it and whether you would do it again. Honest answers are welcome. Thanks for reading.
